　　据报道，事发于曼德勒湾酒店曼德列湾赌场（Mandalay Bay Casino）附近，于1日晚上10时20分左右传出枪声。警方在事发后封锁赌城大道，大举搜捕枪手；并在社交媒体推特公布事件，称接报有一名枪手在赌城开枪，呼吁民众避免接近该区。

　　有在场人士拍下事发情况，可见观众争相逃出活动场地；从高空角度拍下的画面，可见群民突然四散逃跑。而现场照片亦可见，有观众浴血倒地。

　　南内华达大学（拉斯维加斯校区）医学中心发言人仅称，接收了数名伤者，但未说明伤势及其他详情。

　　报道称，枪击发生后，所有来往拉斯维加斯麦卡伦国际机场的航班一度暂停升降。赌场外发现一辆黑色汽车，内有一个“有电线伸出”的可疑装置，暂未确定是否炸弹。
